Leaderboard for hyped videos on YouTube

Important: This feature is currently in a limited beta and only available in certain countries at this time.

The leaderboard shows videos from up-and-coming creators that have been uploaded within the previous seven days and endorsed by fans. When viewers show extra love to creators by hyping their new videos, the videos are given points and YouTube automatically applies bonus points depending on the creator's subscriber count. The fewer subscribers a creator has, the more bonus points are applied each time that viewers hype. The videos with the most points are added to a leaderboard so that viewers can find the freshest content that others have hyped. With bonus points based on a creator's subscriber count, eligible creators of all sizes have the chance to reach the top of the leaderboard.

The leaderboard isn't personalised and displays the same list of videos to all viewers in the same country. The list of most hyped videos is updated about every few minutes. With each update, videos may move up, move down or stay in the same position in the list.

FAQs

Do you tell creators when a video is hyped or reaches the leaderboard?

We don't currently have the option for creators to view who hyped their videos and we don't tell creators when their video has been added to the leaderboard. But creators can always view how many points their video has in the video description. If their video has been added to the leaderboard, there will also be a badge showing the video's rank in the video description.

Can I hype my own videos so that I can get to the leaderboard?

No, you can't hype your own videos. You can hype videos from other up-and-coming creators within your community.

Does hyping impact a video's organic ranking?

No, hyping doesn't impact YouTube's recommendation algorithm.

Is the leaderboard global?

No, it's local. While you might see videos from creators anywhere that hype has been launched, rankings are based only on how viewers in your country have hyped them.

Can I view another country's leaderboard?

No, you can only view the leaderboard for your country at this time.

Can I filter the leaderboard by topic?

Yes, the leaderboard can be filtered by topic (for example, cooking, cars).
