To apply a Nest Aware subscription managed by a home security provider to your home, you need to purchase the subscription and a Nest device from a provider.
- You only need one Nest Aware subscription for all Nest cameras in your home.
- The Nest Aware service will be managed by your home security service provider and included in their service bill.
Set up Nest Aware managed by a home security provider
Step 1. Link your Google Account
- Open your home security provider app.
- Search for an option to add Google Nest. An overview of the linking process should appear.
- Sign in with the Google Account you want to associate with your home security account.
- This account will be associated with the home you want to use in the Google Home app.
Tip: If you don’t have a Google Account, you can create one.
- Choose the home you want to associate with your home security account.
- If you’re new to Google Nest, you need to create a new home. Use the same address you used with your subscription.
- If you already have one or more homes in your Google Home app, select the home you purchased the subscription for.
- Grant your home security provider permission to manage and access your Google Nest devices and services. You can choose which devices to share and manage:
- Control & Notification permissions for specific cameras, thermostats and speakers.
- Familiar face permissions for specific cameras.
- Monitoring permissions for specific cameras and speakers.
Step 2. Link Nest Aware to your home
After you link your Google Account to your home security provider, apply the Nest Aware subscription to your home in the Google Home app.
- Open the Google Home app

- Select the home that you assigned to your home security provider.
- Tap Devices

- Choose your home security provider.
- Tap Apply.
- Follow the steps to set up Nest Aware.
Migrate your current Nest Aware subscription
If you previously purchased a Nest Aware or Nest Aware Plus subscription through Google, you can replace this subscription with Nest Aware managed by your home security provider.
Important: If you migrate to a lower subscription tier, first save clips of footage you want to keep.
During the setup process, you’ll be asked to migrate your Nest Aware subscription to your home security provider. If you migrate, the original Nest Aware subscription will be terminated immediately.
The camera features and video history data might change subject to the new subscription.
- If you migrate within the same subscription tier, there will be no changes.
- If you migrate to a higher subscription tier, you gain:
- An additional 30-day video history, for a total of 60 days.
- Access to Continuous Video Recording (CVR).
- If you migrate to a lower subscription tier, you lose:
- The additional 30-day video history.
- Access to Continuous Video Recording (CVR).
Cancel or change Nest Aware managed by a security provider
If you need to cancel or make changes to your Nest Aware subscription, contact your home security provider.
Control your home security devices with Google Assistant
Important:
- You can only control home security devices using voice commands if they are added to a home in your Google Home app.
- To use voice commands on your home security system, you need a speaker or display that’s linked to the same home in the Home app.
To add your home security devices to the Google Home app:
- Open the Google Home app

- Choose the home you assigned to your home security provider.
- Tap Devices

To remove devices and features:
- Open the Google Home app

- Choose Settings

Partner Connections.
- Select your home security provider to see device permissions.
Tip: You can stop sharing all devices associated with a home security provider by deleting the partner from the Partner Connections screen. You can also delete partner connections from MyAccount.google.com.
Use voice commands to control your home security devices
Important: Not all alarms are compatible.
Say “Hey Google” followed by:
- “Arm my system to away.”
- “Disarm my system.” You’ll need to speak your PIN, if required by your provider.
